I apologize and hope to do better next week now that I’m ‘on break’ from classes for a couple of weeks. Catching up here is a priority.

Whatever – I concur. In the words of Oscar Hammerstein (in ‘Happy Talk’) “… if you don’t have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?”

Sandy Carlson – I thought so too. Answering them last Monday at Small Reflections proved challenging, but I did my best. I do think it’s wise to consider such questions periodically.

Lisa – Yup … I guess I was in a deep mood. Sometimez it happens ;--)

Paulie – This is so true for me as well. Sometimes I wonder how I ever had time to work … seriously!!! LOL

Karen – Your point is right on about the desire of parents for our ‘safety’ … and I’m glad to know you’re making an effort to ‘release’ those fears where Nathan is concerned.

I appreciate ALL of you visiting and sharing your thoughts on my BYBS/SLS post. Hope you’ve had a wonderful week and that the weekend will be a pleasant one. If I've not returned the visit, I hope to do so tomorrow.
Hugs and blessings,storytellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14101550406171982090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5340188638004370422.post-5982557598532062642008-07-21T08:35:00.000-07:002008-07-21T08:35:00.000-07:00I can remember hearing those comments when I was g...I can remember hearing those comments when I was growing up, too. The people who love/loved us want us to be happy and secure and, most of all, safe--the comments come from a place of fear, that if we're not practical, we won't be safe. I completely understand where it comes from and that it's usually motivated by love, BUT...I'm doing my best NOT to say these things to my own child. Dreams are good. Impractical is okay, too. We can't protect the people we love from all danger. We can't (and shouldn't) provide someone with a carefree life (after all, without cares, how can we grow?).
I'm learning to say "Why not?" And even beyond my own child--to my friends and other family, as well. It's incredibly easy to find some to discourage a hope/dream--I want to be the person that encourages, that helps find the way to make it work.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09182248478422009913noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5340188638004370422.post-29720542068016177902008-07-21T06:53:00.000-07:002008-07-21T06:53:00.000-07:00Keeping busy keeps one out of trouble!
