Haiku Friday #28 - Women's Tennis Update

Sony Ericsson Miami Tennis Tournament

Quality Tennis ...
Women's Semi-Final Match
Serena Williams

and Kuznetsova
split the first two sets then played
such a close 3rd set!

Physical trainer
certainly deserves a raise
helping Williams move!

All the games were long.
Many break points 'held' by each ...
Such intensity

and excitement as
neither faltered ... staying strong
clearly champions

both competing with
skill and determination!
On the other hand

(Photos found at Yahoo Sports)

the matches played by
these four women weren't the best
so I am hoping for

one more quality
match between Jankovic and
Williams Saturday.

You know what's funny? I remember watching some show on "future stars" about 10 years ago on how great Venus would be. And, who is the better Williams? Serena.

TransplantingMe – The women’s game IS intense … very different than it used to be in my day ;--)

SecretAgentMama – I’m glad you think so. I do have fun searching for photos and putting the collages together before I write these Haiku updates.

AnglophileFootballFanatic – Venus is pretty much unbeatable on ‘grass’ … and it’s been a while since the two sisters played one another on ANY surface. I was hoping that would happen in this tournament, but Kuznetsova raised her game and Venus faltered in the quarter-finals. I’m not sure which sister actually plays better these days because their strengths differ from one another … but Venus is older … and maybe a step slower now.

SusieJ – I’m happy to ‘fill you in’ with my updates. I only watch the four ‘major tournaments’ as a general rule, but my DVR picked up this tournament (along the one in Indian Wells a couple of weeks ago) and I had the time … so I watched with interest and decided to share.

Rebecca – I appreciate your ‘ku’d compliments’ today. You’re quite amazing at this form yourself ;--)

Maggie – Thanks … both are great fun for me!

I appreciate each of you visiting this morning and hope you’re having a fantastic Friday!

Ha! I would not have known how many syllables were in Kuznetsova! :)

Jennifer and Mama Zen – Lazy????? Whatever for? Ya know I love this stuph so there’s no ‘work’ involved … seriously!!!

Tumblewords – I’m so happy you find them enjoyable even though you’re not a ‘tennis’ fan ;--)

Gift of Green – I’m such an ‘avid fan’ of the game I actually know how to pronounce and spell all of the player’s names! LOL

Blessedw4mom – Thanks for your feedback here.

What fun to find your comments this morning as I clear out my gmail box (after neglecting it most of the week). I hope you’re all enjoying a wonderful weekend.

I actually read this on Friday, but obviously forgot to comment! (I don't see my stag anywhere.) Love the haiku--and I love the pics you choose--I love seeing the concentration and passion!
