BYB #5 and more ... on Sunday

The French Open tournament
begins today ... for two
weeks there will be tennis matches
to record & view!

Those who've read my blogs a while
know I'm a tennis fan
during major championships.
I'm grateful I can

DVR the matches while I'm
busy, and when time
permits, watch them at my leisure.
Thus my simple rhyme

focuses attention on this
'blessing' ... I can see
matches since the 'Tennis Channel'
seems 'unblocked' and free!!!

~ ~ ~

Gentle rain the last two days has
watered everything
saving me the time & effort.
Sunny now ... birds sing

joyfully and hop around
the yard in search of food ...
Is it any wonder I'm in
a marvelous mood?

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

All I need to figure out
is what to do about
the gopher who's 'tunneling' a
'home' out front. No doubt
I cannot ignore this rodent
(or the family
who might reside with him) in the
tunnels under the
beautiful hydrangea
I've shared here previously.

If you have suggestions won't you
please enlighten me?

Daily Meditation from
Keepers of the Wisdom
Reflections from Lives Well Lived
by Karen Casey

"I know this: It's not just experience in age;
whatever you can do best will bring itself to light."
Eva Wines

"Perhaps you don't feel that you do anything well. Often times, we make only half-hearted attempts at whatever we do. Then, we have ample evidence that we're not doing so well. We can change that experience, though. A bit of effort and a measure of patience will nurture noticeable improvement. But what does it mean that whatever we can do best will come 'to light'?

We get urges to try our hands at something every now and then. Mostly we ignore them. If we're attentive, we're aware that the urges repeat themselves. They are coming 'to light.' We then must make the choice to follow them or not. What's in store for us, if we actively acknowledge them, is fulfillment like we'd never known before. It's not accidental that we are called to do certain things. No one else has exactly the gifts we've been blessed with. We must offer ours to the world for its realization, and ours, too."

"I can point to many accomplishments in my lifetime.
What brings me the most pleasure is undoubtedly
God's special assignment for me."

Thought for Today
"I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought; and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder." G.K. Chesterdon

Enjoy the tennis and the rain and all good things!

Perhaps that gopher has arrived to bring you some new blessing.

Fun, creative entry! I wish I had a suggestion for you, but I have no idea how to humanely deal with them.

"Free Tennis Channel Blessing"... it's an original... and I certainly understand it! :)

The gopher... well... that's way outside my areas of expertise... but I hope some amicable conclusion to his/her/their invasion can be found!

Sandy Carlson – I did enjoy the rain here … and the tennis in France (via cable). Interestingly on Monday THEY had rain in Paris … hard enough to halt play so I had time to begin reading A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS. I’m not sure what ‘blessing’ a gopher in my yard might bring, but I’ll try to remain open-minded and watchful ;--)

Paulie – Thanks. I have a tendency to lapse into rhyme & rhythm occasionally … especially when ideas don’t want to flow any other way. I don’t have any NEW holes in my yard (and am relieved about that).

Whatever – I agree! DVRs work w/o the hassles of video tapes … and I’ve got mine set to record tennis while I attend my Photoshop class this morning. Guess what I plan to do this afternoon ;--)

Sue – I’ve got my fingers crossed that this gopher will move on (with whatever family members accompany him) and save my yard from devastation from below. Just call me Pollyanna. LOL

DoubleDeckerBusGuy – Heheheheh … yez … all blessings gratefully received … especially the occasional ‘cable’ gifts. I’ve not resorted to ‘poison’ or ‘traps’ yet … nor have I called an ‘exterminator’ … and I am hoping for the best …(with fingers crossed making it a challenge to type).

Thanks to everyone for visiting and leaving your reactions (and good wishes). Hope you’re all having a wonderful week!
Hugs and blessings,

My parents are plagued by moles--and they haven't figured out how to get rid of them, either. Can your kitty be encouraged to take care of the problem?

I'm looking forward to all the tennis info to come!

aahhhh to enjoy a sport! I think tennis for you is like baseball for me: a grand time to relax and enjoy something. This is a wonderful reminder for me!

Karen – I thought about cutting back on Ms. Kitty’s food for a few days to see if hunger might encourage her to ‘hunt’ again as she did once upon a time … but methinks that would put the birds at greater risk than the gopher. Currently it’s a non-issue because I covered up the two existing holes and no new ones have appeared. I’ve got my fingers crossed … (making it hard to type this morning) … as I hope the gopher family has moved on. Hmm … I’ve been so busy sharing Photoshop Elements lessons I haven’t gotten around to tennis results yet, though there have been some exciting matches already. I’ll consider this …

AndrĂ©e – My dad loved Baseball and I catch a game occasionally, but don't really follow the sport much any more. Watching tennis reminds me of my younger days a college when I played competitively … and it IS relaxing usually … though when life is as busy as mine’s been of late, I find I’m grateful for the rain delays early in the tournament … giving me time to do what’s needed without missing the matches. Of course it’ll be crazy later on as they double up to catch up.

Thanks to both of you for stopping by and have a delightful day!
Hugs and blessings,

I love tennis! Great post!

Thanks! Since you love tennis, I assume you’re watching the French Open too. I suspect you’d find today’s HF#43 at Small Reflections of interest because I wrote of tennis there (among other things) … though I’m more than a day behind watching the matches recorded on my DVR. I’m avoiding ‘news’ because I don’t want to know who wins or loses until I see the match itself. At the moment, I’m watching Murray play Almagro (and Verdasco vs Youzhny) after watching Nadal win his 3rd match easily. I know Serena’s out …(how disappointing is that?) and I’m hoping to catch up over the weekend and then stay current. If you click on the LABEL ‘tennis’ after that post you’ll find samples of previous ‘tennis related’ posts.
