BYBS #9 - A little late, but at least it's still Sunday

Five More Really Good Things

After sharing Seven Really Good Things in BYBS#8 last Sunday, this week I had several opportunities to employ my dormant 'teaching' skills to assist others, and am taking this opportunity to add some additional 'good things' here.

1. On Wednesday, I helped my friend Carol catch up on what she missed on Tuesday at our PSE6 class so she'd be ready for Thursday's lessons. She was unable to attend that day because she and her husband helped their daughter set up a new office on Monday & Tuesday. I brought my new laptop over to her house so I could demonstrate while she worked on her MAC, then shared part of the results of last week's Photoshop lessons in Friday's post on this blog.

2. Yesterday, I helped my neighbor Barbara figure out how to transfer and apply the skills she's learning on a PC in the Beginning Photoshop Class (that I took a couple of months ago & she's taking now) on her MAC at home. She felt pleased to get this assistance, and I enjoyed assisting her as well.

3. In a telephone chat this afternoon with my Writer's Retreat Buddy, Jan shared some useful information that 'resonates' with my understanding of how things work and what I'm all about in this lifetime ... and methinks it will help me move forward in places I've been 'stuck' for a while now. I'm grateful. As is often the case, I supplied HER with helpful information & feedback regarding an issue she's having with some back pain. I continue to be amazed at how Suzanne knew to pair us up last summer in Taos. Our commitment was for 3 months, but it's been almost a year now that we've connected almost weekly to encourage and support one another in unique yet reciprocal ways.

4. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the highly competitive Men's Championships at Wimbledon today ... though I wish Roger Federer had been able to pull out a 5th set win after losing the first 2 sets to Rafa Nadal (6-4, 6-4) and fighting back to level the match at 2 all (7-6, 7-6). The 'shot-making' by BOTH players was absolutely amazing ... and this was a history making match ... lasting longer than any previous Wimbledon Men's final.

5. My new Dell arrived last Monday and I've managed to load & update my MSN e-mail software on this new laptop and (finally) access the account there ... after being unable to do so with any consistency (except through Hotmail, and then only now & again) for almost a year now. Somehow it got messed up on my trip to Taos last summer. Once connected, I discovered more than 6000 unread emails there. I used the tennis 'rain delays' (& a couple of hours more) to transfer a few important things to various folders to deal with over the next few days ... then 'dump' most of the rest ... whittling down my INBOX count to 162 messages. This is a HUGE RELIEF and hopefully (with some help from tech support) I'll be able to transfer & open the file of messages saved on my OLD laptop successfully as well.

You're starting to make me think I should learn about PhotoShop.

Love the closing quote about having and being a friend.

I hope you have a lovely week. :)

The friendship quote is awesome.

SandyCarlson – I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun it was to ‘revive’ those skills … and as I type this, I’m reminded that there’s a Chinese fellow in my PSE6 class who I’ve been able to assist in the Intermediate classes as well. He took the beginning course a couple of years ago using an older version of the program. That (coupled with the fact that the only place he uses English is at school) has made some of the lessons quite challenging for him.

Mary Ann – I’ve certainly been happy with what I’ve learned about ‘fixing’ photos and creating visual projects in my classes … so you might enjoy exploring the possibilities too. I’m glad the quote spoke to you.

Joyce – Thanks … and I hope YOUR week is enjoyably productive too.

Hugs and blessings to you all, and I hope you're having a marvelous Monday!

You are so sweet. Always thinking of others :) That is wonderful!

Sandy – You’re sweet to say so … but it’s not that I’m always thinking of others. It’s more like I realize we’re all one … and that being supportive of others benefits everyone, including me ;--)
Thanks for dropping by …

Wow, more than 6000 unread e-mails is making me feel good about the state of my inbox.

MPJ – Yeah … well it’s been almost a year since MSN started ‘acting up’ on me and even after multiple calls to tech support, the problem persisted. It was somehow related to the fact that I used Hotmail to access the account instead of the MSN software itself while traveling to Taos and back. I’ve whittled the number down from 6000+ to about 650 or so, but haven’t tried to move the MSN files stored on my old laptop to the new one. I’m thinking of moving that folder to an external drive and trying to access it from there w/o putting it on this one until all the issues are resolved. I had Google Reader down to about 350 unread messages last night (but no telling how many NEW ones have accumulated there since then) and my gmail box at about 530. It’s like DUST in the house … so it’s hard to stay current, but I’m working on it … seriously! LOL

Stev – Yup … I definitely feel my life is blessed and always has been, though I didn’t always recognize the tough things as blessings initially ... LOL
