Passing along some humor from a friend ...

Hosted by Skittles at Head or Tails
This week's theme/prompt is:
HEADS - Joke

Some of you have already seen this,
but it seemed appropriate for today's theme.
Donkey in Hole

It's been a while since I've checked my MSN or Roadrunner email accounts because of problems with my old laptop ... so in catching up, I came across this and wanted to share ... just because (with thanks to my friend, Dannie). All text (other than this lavender note) is hers. I found the illustrations at Photobucket and added them. I hope you enjoy it too ;--)

"One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he
quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up!

Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.

Live simply and appreciate what you have.

Give more.

Expect less.

Enough of that crap . The donkey later came back, and bit the farmer who had tried to bury him. The gash from the bite got infected and the farmer eventually died in agony from septic shock.

MORAL FROM TODAY'S LESSON:

When you do something wrong, and try to cover your ass, it always comes back to bite you.

Amen, dude! Heh heh!"

Rebecca
of Reba's Ramblings celebrated her Blogoversary Sunday by hosting a Blog Carnival with a giveaway. She asked visitors recently to address the eternal question ... specifically the issue of why we blog. I endeavored to respond with a post on my 3rd blog ...(yup that means I posted on all three blogs Sunday so just call me kRaZy or oBsEsSeD). If time permits, take a few moments to click on over and read ...

If you decide to participate yourself, write your own reasons for blogging and drop by Reba's to read the reasons why others blog too. Be sure to leave a comment or link here so I can read yours too ;--)

Mike – Thanks for dropping by. It’s been a while since I’ve published here with any regularity, I don’t know that many folks still check in unless it’s the Haiku Friday, 40PC, or One Single Impression participants. I appreciate your support and I’m sorry you've had spammer problems. I hope it doesn’t happen again any time soon to you or anyone else. Using ‘comment moderation’ is a pain, but it does help with such problems. Have a safe and sane 4th of July!

Mama Zen and Lucy – I agree! Let’s hear it for the donkey ;--)

Eve – I don’t recall hearing this story before so it was new to me, but I’m glad it made you smile.

Lisa – Yup … seems only fitting.

To all – It’s fun to find your comments today. Thanks for dropping by and happy 4th of July to everybody!!! It’s been noisy around here for a few weeks already and Molly will be glad when this holiday is over … but it’s fun too.

What a great story, Storyteller! thanks for the visit and the kind comment.Have a great weekend! The sun is shining where I am now!

Reader Wil – I’m glad you enjoyed the 'donkey' story and appreciate your return visit here while I was trying to ignore the noisy fireworks and parties to sleep. It’s a beautiful day here in Southern California, but when you left this comment it was the middle of the night here. What an amazing thing this ‘virtual’ world is! I suspect YOU’RE sleeping as I type this response.

I was getting a little upset with the donkey story. I was like no "pooor donkey" and I'm glad it had a happy ending! Hah.

Hootin Anni said...

LOVED this!!!! I thank you dearly for the invite. That ass knew just who the turd was and wiped him away. Just love it.

Happy ending too. Well the END of the farmer wasn't so happy, but I for one would say YAY donkey dude! You did right.

I love this donkey story. It's one I've heard before and yet welcome it again. It's good to be reminded from time to time. I must learn to shake it off and step up.

Blessings to you. Have a great week.

That is a fabulous story and message :) I was starting to feel incredibly sad for that donkey!

I love the story...the revenge of the donkey but the moral was the best bit.

Mine is an answer to the age old question of 'What goes Ha Ha Kerplopp?'

I think I might do a second joke too. It was sooooo hard just finding one joke to post.

Karen – Ah … you missed this the first time around while on vacation so I’m doubly glad to have ‘recycled’ it for my 1st HoTs or Tails on this blog today.

Smarmoofus – Me too! My friend Dannie has a wonderful sense of humor marvelously unique perspective on life.

Meg – Heheh … this story has a way of catching us by surprise, doesn’t it? I’m glad you found the ending ‘happy’ ;--)

Hootin’ Anni – I figured this one might tickle your funny bone. Thanks for taking me up on the offer to come see.

Alice – Yez … we all need periodic reminders like this, and methinks ‘humor’ helps ‘fix’ them in mind.

Jessica – Glad you enjoyed it.

Maisie – This one has lots of ‘levels’ to it, that’s for sure. LOL

Sandy – Yup, this apparently ‘sad tale’ does have a ‘kick’ doesn’t it ;--)

Bev – I’m delighted you enjoyed this little donkey tale. I loved yourz so much it still makes me giggle when I think of it. As for ‘finding’ jokes … I almost never search with ‘Google’ but since telling jokes has never been a strong suit of mine, that is what I did for my HoTs post at Small Reflections. My only concern was that everyone would have already discovered it before me. This story was one I’d shared earlier in July but that not many people happened upon. All I did was I change the date and added the HoTs info to ‘recycle’ it, and I’m happy I did so because everyone seems to have been entertained.

Mike – Ah … why thanks! I’ll be by to see what you’ve left for me as soon as I finish responding to comments. You know how I enjoy sharing ;--)

Betty – It’s a busier than usual week, but quite enjoyable thus far. Today’s the first day I’ll actually be at home to ‘catch up’ a bit online (and do some much needed cleaning around home).

Jennifer – How nice to meet you, and thanks for visiting by way of Mike! I’m glad you enjoyed the animated donkey and the story … hope you’ll check out my other blogs too and return as time permits. I love making new ‘virtual’ friends and I’ll do my best to check out your blog later today.

To all – I’m delighted to know that this donkey story generated laughter, and appreciate finding your comments this morning. If I’ve not yet visited your blogs, I’ll do my best to drop by later today. I wish you each a wonderful Wednesday and hope you’ll drop by here (and my other blogs too) whenever time permits.
