BYBS - Sacred Life -Shadow Shot Sunday

This is my 35th BYBS ...
I awoke to the pounding of the surf against the shore this morning, and walked down to the water with my camera & Molly ... enjoying the subtle changes in the weather as the winds shift from off-shore to on-shore. Although Santa Ana winds blew most of last week, today they seem to have calmed down finally ... and by Wednesday or Thursday of next week we may get some rain showers here in Southern California. What a welcome change that will be. Gratefully these gusty winds have not sparked any wildfires. I'd certainly love to share some of our warmth with those of you out there dealing with extreme cold this winter.

I've enjoyed the company of my sister this past week, but unfortunately the Ritz Camera Classes we planned to attend on Wednesday afternoon & evening were canceled due to a 'corporate meeting' ... however, we're hoping to catch the series together in early February. I have enjoyed continued experiments with my new Nikon D60 .
This is my first attempt at ...

A Call to Service - Inaugurate Yourself
Michelle Obama on the National Day of Service
Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday-January 19, 2009

I don't know how I missed this until today, but perhaps others did too ... so I'm spreading the word here as I check out options in my area. The Obamas are directing people to this site to set up a service event or attend one in their vicinity. By entering your zipcode you can find opportunities in YOUR area also.

Our county democratic headquarters is holding a food drive tomorrow--we're planning on doing some shopping and dropping off food for that. I really like this new attitude--one of trying to move away from "what's in it for me?" or "every man for himself." It fills me with hope.

It's so nice to see green grass and sunshine somewhere...snowed all day here in Ioway.

Thanks, Virginia, for the reminder that each of us needs to do our part, to care and serve, right where we are, right now. :)

That's a great collection of shadows there! A very nice collage! Thanks so much for joining in Shadow Shot Sunday. You'll probably be aware that I copy/save all shadow shots from participants to create the collages that I include in the SSS post published the following week. I've just copied/saved yours, but with it being a collage already it may not display so well within another collage so I may not be able to include it. Just letting you know in advance. Anyway, it's great having you play along! I enjoyed your shadows! Have a wonderful week ahead :)

The sounds of breezes and the surf were a balm for me this morning, Storyteller. Thanks.

I enjoyed your shadow shots, too.

Thanks for your comment on my blog.

I love the spirit of gratitude and delight that runs through all of your writings.

Its amazing how life changes entirely when we focus on the blessings and what we can give back. There are so many miracles showing up in every day....and without conscious attention, we miss them!

I don't know how I missed your post last week. Maybe I posted on the wrong place? Not sure. Looks like you've had lots of blessings!
