Morning Musings of a Happily Retired Gal

Herein are my Morning Musings

1. It's raining in Southern California this morning so Molly & I
are house-bound ... at least for the time being. My 'water dog'
(Labrador Retriever) doesn't like RAIN falling from the sky even though she'll lay down in puddles and swim in the ocean. Strange, right?

2. This is my living room ceiling ... I'm hoping to get someone out here soon to fix the leaky deck off my bedroom above this room,
and I've got my fingers crossed that nothing serious is going on structurally up there.

3. So ... in less than a week I've resolved the Blogger upload issues
I wrote about last Tuesday
(with a bit of help from my virtual
friends ... thanks so much) and
I'm happy with my transition from 'storyteller' to 'happily retired gal.' I'm almost finished shifting blog subscription URLs to 'hrg's Google Reader' (from 'storyteller's) and hope to keep my virtual visits more current again.

4. In an attempt to be more prudently responsible with my uploads, I'm doing my best to 'resize' images before posting them. Through trial & error I've discovered there's a vast difference in the files ...
for example, the Unknown White Bulb Blossoms mosaic at Happily Retired Gal today started out at 2.23 MB when I created it ... resized at 'large' it's just 185 KB (and even smaller if resized at medium or small).

5.
If you've not discovered Microsoft's 'Power Toys' I strongly suggest you check them out. This 'resizing' tool is quite handy and works quickly & easily once it's downloaded & installed.

6. Yesterday's Retired Gals Lunch was well attended ... 10 of us showed up. After 9 years meeting in at the same restaurant in
Sunset Beach, we've switched to the Corner Bakery where I opted
for 'breakfast' ... and found it quite tasty.

7. Hmmm ... Molly's restless and it seems there might be a 'break' in the weather so methinks I'll publish this quickly and take advantage of this opportunity to get some exercise before the rain starts again.

Hope you're each having a delightful day!

Stopping by from the Un Mom…

I tend to forget that my new camera takes pictures at a higher resolution and therefore has larger pictures that take more time to load. Lately I've been using Picassa to upload and they have an option of choosing the size you want it to be. No need to re-size the picture with some other program.

Thanks for your randomness,

Oh, my! I hope you get the leak fixed soon so you don't have a mold problem! Of course, I just had to click on the food plate, I'm drooling over those crispy hash browns! So funny about Molly!!

Wow- a lab who does not like water. That's something you don't hear about every day.

Happy RTT!

Unfortunately, I have a ceiling that looks like yours - my dishwasher sprang a leak. Drywall repair is pretty messy - I'm putting mine off awhile so I don't have to deal with it!

I hope you get the ceiling fixed before it gets worst.

And that food looks awesome!

Good for you for learning to resize your photos. You'll have so much room to play on your blog and your photos will come up faster for your visitors as well!

I hope you and Molly were able to get in a short walk at least before the rains returned.

I'm sorry about your leaky deck and I hope it won't create too many problems. Glad you've solved the photo issues.

Oohh your breakfast spot looks sweet! I have some friends that we used to work together and we meet once a month for dinner at a favorite spot. It's nice to keep those connections. I hear ya on the phone. Only reason we upgraded is because ours weren't holding a charge very long anymore. Just the basics is best for sure. Snowing here and wind is howling but nice and comfy in front of my computer. {{HUGS}}

I wasn't aware of Microsoft power tools for resizing. Thanks for the heads up.

I always enjoy your posts. Glad you got a break in the weather AND that you resolved your blogger issues. :-)

Thanks for that tip on resizing. I am so very lazy about that. Horrible. But I see what you mean. That can be a huge space saver.

I hope your roof problem is nothing.

I am glad you had fun during that lunch out.
