Musings and Mosaics

Outside my windowit's sunny & warmer than yesterday but with scattered clouds. Ms. Kitty is snoozing on her patio pillow ... occasionally looking up to watch the world go by.
(3:15pm addendum - it's raining and skies are grey - Ms. Kitty's moved inside her igloo)

I am thinking about the series of storms headed our way ... jotting a note to myself on a 'post-it' to check the drains on the front & back decks this afternoon to be sure they're not clogged because I don't want any leaks in the living room or the garage.

I am thankful forthe cute little 'Johnny Jump ups' I noticed on the parkway this morning ... it's nifty how the birds spread the seeds for these marvelous miniature pansy plants each year.

From the kitchenI just microwaved two tamales and peeled a couple of Satsuma tangerines to enjoy for lunch.

I am wearingcomfy 'sweats' because it's a bit chilly inside with the furnace off, but I'd rather not turn it on in the middle of the day.

I am creatingmy very first Simple Woman's Daybook post on this Sunday afternoon. I never seem to remember to do this on Mondays ... probably because there are so many 'photo' activities that I enjoy participating in ... like Mellow Yellow, Mosaic, and Blue Monday (occasionally Macro & Fun Monday too) ... and since I don't usually post two days in a row on any of my blogs any more. I usually share Shadow Shots & Scenic Sunday here and Blog your Blessings on Sundays too, but since shared 13 Thoughts on Thursday here and Friday's Five Favs at Small Reflections ... methinks I'll let that be..

I am rememberinghow much I enjoy writing my thoughts & I'm glad to be following through with my intention to share more regularly on my blogs.

I am going to pick up milk this afternoon because I'm out & will need some for my oatmeal in the morning to avoid the temptation to use the half & half I keep for my coffee ;-)

I am readingJulia Cameron's Walking in the World for a second time and revisiting a couple of Barbara Sher's books to help me refocus my attention on 'organizing' my time & space in functional ways.

I am hoping to get myself writing more regularly again. Seems like my interest in photography and Digital Media techniques have consumed my writing time all too often this past year.

I am hearing Molly's quiet snores as she sleeps on a pillow-bed at my feet ... recuperating from our walk this morning.

Around the housethere's less clutter than usual because I cleared off my desk area while looking for the Medicare information ... and that reminds me I have phone calls to make tomorrow about 'supplemental' coverage. (Thanks to Barb of Live & Learn for reminding me tomorrow is a holiday so I won't be able to make phone calls until Tuesday and that means my Digital Media class won't be meeting either. Sallie's correct - when every day's a holiday, it's easy to lose track of the 'official' ones. LOL)

One of my favorite thingsis walking around the neighborhood and along the beach with my camera ... something I may not be able to do much of next week, so perhaps I'll take a walk without Molly this afternoon to snap photos to share on my blogs.
7:30 pm addendum: I also love to watch TENNIS and just remembered that the Australian Open starts today ... so I'll be 'distracted' over the next two weeks.

A picture to share a favorite shot of Ms Kitty and simple mosaic with 'patches of blue' amidst the gathering clouds in my Southern California skies here at the beach captured Saturday ... (I shared pix of Molly at Small Reflections).

I'm not likely to
see any blue skies like these
for a while 'cuz

it will be raining
almost all the time next week ...
I'm a happy gal ;-)

I'm loving the Satsumas, too. A little reminder - tomorrow is a Nat'l Holiday - I don't think you can make Medicare calls! Enjoy your week.

Satsumas yum! Johnny-Jump-Ups adorable. LOL at Barb's comment above -- easy for us retired people to forget things like Holidays -- when every day seems like one ;>).

I love your flowers. Sounds like great weather.

Where I live we are expecting 6-9 inches of snow tonight!

Hope you have a great night. :)

Oh I love you're combining your daybook post with your mosaics. I always get a chuckle when I visit and read your first sentence.."Because I'm 'scattered..." Sweetie you do an amazing 'job' on these blogs and keeping track of what's where for us. And you manage to make tamales and take amazing pictures to boot. Wow! Enjoying those pictures it's snowing here right now.

We love johnny jump ups! They are so sweet, like little pansies. I, too, love walking around with my camera. These posts are like secretly reading someone's diary! Lovely.

I love reading your journal, Virginia.. It helps me to get to know you better. I love photos--but photos don't always tell 'your' story... Hearing about your daily life is interesting. I enjoy it.

Love those SKY pictures, and your sweet Ms. Kitty.
Hugs,
Betsy

Thanks for your kind words when you stopped by. Its hard to know what to do when someone is rude to your adult child. The instinct is to jump in there with both feet. I'm just praying that it will all blow over without too much damage.
I have a pair of earrings that are Kokopelli. I bought them when we stayed a month in Tuscon in 1997.
You're right about the confusion over holidays. I was reminded about today by my daughter last week because it is a school holiday and I don't have the Princess after school. Daughter was off today, too. My husband was not off work, however. Not everyone takes this holiday.

Hi: I live in Southern California too. The next week is going hard. I live by the burned hills. So it is a time of waiting. I love to read your blog. You always seem to be at peace with your self. Blessings, Martha

We were blessed today with a warm, sunny day. So nice and I worked in my yard most of the day. I love being outside when it is nice weather. Trust you will have a nice day soon.

Your meal sounds delicious. I believe the last time I had a tamale was in California. Quite some time ago!

It's always a pleasure catching up with your snapshots from your world. I certainly look forward to your writings as well.
