Many of you know
I've been 'happily retired'
almost seven years.
I've not entered a
school house now for quite some time
until yesterday
when I decided
I am ready to take a
class or two myself.
My neighbor has been
talking about Adult School
for a year or more
so when the brochure
arrived in the mail I looked
at the courses and
discovered a class
on 'Photoshop Elements' ...
a program I've owned
several years ... in
fact I bought one, two, and three
on advice from friends.
This class teaches "six'
so I'll probably decide
to buy it as well
but first I will learn
how to use the features ... then
use that knowledge here ;--)

how exciting. photo shop, i would love to learn it!!
That's on my list to learn very, very soon, too.
Yay you!!!!
Classes are great...
Great Haiku. Have fun with your classes. I would love to take some adult classes and learn a few more things, too.
Transplanting Me – I’ve played with the program for years and taught myself to do many things, but methinks it’s time for me to let someone SHOW me how to use ALL the elements because there are things I’d love to be able to do now.
Maggie’s Mind – After seeing all that others can do on their blogs, I feel it’s time now. Of course, I’ve got lots of ‘discretionary’ time these days ;--)
JJ! – It’s funny that I’ve not checked out the Adult School before, but maybe I just needed some time away from ‘educational’ settings of the ‘official’ kind. Actually they found my name in their computers even though I’ve not taken classes before. Of course I used to TEACH classes for ‘adults’ through the High School District occasionally … so I suppose that’s how it got there in the first place ;--)
Eve – Thanks! Ya know how I love ku-ing on Fridays ;--)
I appreciate you visiting this morning and sharing your thoughts. Methinks the most challenging part of signing up is getting myself out of the house …(and away from the computer here)… by 7:30 two mornings a week … Tuesdays and Thursdays. I’ll also need to find a different Weight Watcher group for the six week span of time for the class, but I’m sure I’ll manage and I am excited by the prospect.
Hugs and blessings,
That sounds like the sort of class I should get!
Have fun :D
As creative as you are, photo shop will be fun and very interesting! Good Luck!
Way to go, storyteller! I'm looking forward to taking classes (in what, I don't know) myself someday, when I have a little more time. You enjoy yourself, soak up that knowledge, and impart some of it on the rest of us!
Very exciting! Good for you :) I'm sure you'll do wonderfully. I can't wait to see some of your skills!
great photos.and I have been an ueasly retired since I was forsed to stoop driveing.
Marylin – The ‘price’ is definitely right! As a ‘senior’ …(over 55)… I pay just $38 for the 30 hour course … and I can attend any (or all) of the one-day ‘weekend’ seminars on a wide variety of topics w/o paying the $20/class fee. I’m excited ;--)
Greatfullivin – At least one friend is going to take the class too … possibly a 2nd friend as well … so it’ll be a ‘social’ thing too!
Karen – I’ll be happy to pass along whatever knowledge I gain by attending this course and/or any of the others I might decide to attend. I’m ready to let others ‘assist’ me rather than doing everything ‘the hard way’ as I’ve done to date.
Sandy – I want to be able to create some ‘original’ awards to share … and to generate my own images to use on my blogs … perhaps even share with others on Photobucket to ‘give back’ for all I’ve received to date.
Mike – It must be tough to have the ‘retirement’ decision made for you for health reasons. It’s good to make the most of the ‘discretionary’ time you have now ;--)
Thanks to each of you for visiting today and offering your words of encouragement today. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs and blessings,
Good for you! :)
photoshop is soooo much fun!
altho i do need a class in it myself. it would help fix some of my blunders!
Oooh, I'm jealous! Have a wonderful time, and I'll look forward to seeing the results. :)
Oh, then you'll have to share your knowledge. I really need to learn at least something other than point, click, upload!
Rebecca – Thanks! I’ve not been a ‘student’ for a LONG time … nor have I gotten myself out of the house much before 9:30ish for a while, so both could prove challenging.
Janet – I’ve enjoyed ‘playing’ with the program periodically, but I know there’s much to be learned and more I could be doing with it.
Joyce – I appreciate the encouraging words and suspect this will be fun.
AnglophileFootballFanatic – You and me both! I did use the program to add text to the Message in a Bottle and Make a Wish graphics … but I’m ready to experiment with the possibilities so I won’t always have to search Photobucket for my images.
I truly appreciate all the enthusiastic support for this new endeavor. I feel some trepidation at the challenge, but I suspect once I’m actually in the ‘hands-on’ class experiencing ‘lessons’ and receiving ‘guided practice’ I’ll rise to the challenges … and ‘run’ with the possibilities.
I hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend.
Hugs and blessings,
Great! Take the course and then you can teach us! Hooray! BTW I teach in a Continuing Education Depart of a Community college! :D
Sounds like you're keeping very busy with some interesting new endeavors, and still enjoying your "down" time at the beach with Molly. Very nice. :)
the teach – I’ll be happy to share whatever I learn. A funny thing happened when they added my name to the computer. Even though I’ve never taken an Adult School course, my name (and information) was already there. I suppose it’s because I used to TEACH workshops for teachers in the High School District from time to time. FYI -- If you were looking for my Photo Hunt post, it’s at Small Reflections not here.
Joyce – Yes … I try to keep things ‘balanced’ in my life ;--)
I hope you’re both having a wonderful weekend. Thanks for spending a bit of it with me here.
Hugs and blessings,
How fun. It sounds exciting. I look forward to seeing how it inspires you.
Yertle – It IS exciting and I am looking forward to the class now that I’ve gone a done it. But TODAY what’s on my mind is getting my hair permed because it’s driving me NUTS (as usual after 12 to 13 weeks) and I hate ‘messing’ with ‘hair’ on any regular basis. I’m a ‘wash and wear’ kind of gal these days ;--)
Hope all is well with you and yours. I’ve been having ‘memory’ issues with my laptop and Google Reader’s been ‘locking up’ on me lately … so it’s harder to visit at the moment. I’ve been trying to clear out old files and/or move them to an external hard drive to free up memory again. Hopefully I won’t need to invest in a new computer right away.
Hugs and blessings,
I'm sure you will have a great time!
Yay, you! And because I've waited so long to visit, I'm hoping to see some of what you've learned as I catch up. :)
Mariposa – I apologize for not responding here sooner … guess I missed your comment (left a couple of weeks ago) in my current ‘overly busy state’ … but am glad I found it today (along with MPJ’s). I am having a great time in this class … and have shared some of what I’ve learned in my Haiku Friday posts today (May 16th) on both blogs ;--)
MPJ – I truly understand … have been following your ‘journey’ in Google Reader w/o commenting yet because life’s been a bit overwhelmingly busy for me lately too. I keep hoping things will slow down enough to catch up with you (and a few others I’ve been neglecting for way too long). As I mentioned in my comment to Mariposa, I did create HF posts on each blog that demonstrate Photoshop Element ‘lessons’ learned thus far. I’m loving the class … even though getting myself out of the house by 7:30 two mornings each week remains challenging.
Thanks again for visiting and sharing your thoughts. I hope you’re both enjoying life fully!
Hugs and blessings,
