I begin most days
sitting on my patio
capturing my thoughts
as my breathing slows ... then I
jump up and retrieve
my camera to
capture this experience ...
Isn't it lovely?

Oh! Sunrise.. Yay! So often -- like at my place -- we see sunset. I can just never make it to the sunrise side of the island, and the sky is so light by the time the sun crests our mountain, there's nothing spectacular about it.
Love the photos! So pretty! And your Haiku is very well done!
Your sunrise is beautiful! Yes, great minds.... :) I love the haiku you wrote to go with it, what a wonderful and creative way to combine two challenges!
What a wonderful way to start the day. The journaling, the centering and the sunrise!
Love this one -- the haikus and the pictures! Thanks for sharing your beautiful morning.
quite a lovely view to start the day
Quilly – I know what you mean. I live at the ocean on the West coast, so I never see sunrise over the ocean … just sunset. Of course, I’d never complain about that … but I do enjoy the ocean sunrises folks share on their blogs.
CrackerJacks – Thanks. I enjoy writing in poetry & tend to post in Haiku most Fridays on both of my blogs.
Sharon – I do love multi-tasking and combine things whenever it ‘works’ … thanks for the feedback ;--)
Vixen – Beginning my days in this manner keeps me calm, centered, and focused no matter what arises. I adopted this practice more than 30 years ago and believe it serves me well.
MPJ – I’m delighted to do so, and I’m happy to know you enjoyed my ‘Ku & photos this morning.
Lissa – I am the most fortunate of women … and feel gratitude always.
To all – How fun to find your comments here! I spent a couple of hours creating my HF#55 post/40PC Challenge at Small Reflections and just published it. Molly and I are headed out for a walk, but I’ll be visiting blogs in a little while. I’m eager to see what others have shared. Hope you’re all enjoying a fabulous Friday. Thanks so much for spending a bit of it with me … here.
Hugs and blessings,
Ooh, gorgeous! I would love to be a morning person who got up early enough to enjoy, but I'm a night owl, so unless I stay up until the sun comes up, it's rare that I get to experience that kind of peaceful sunrise. :)
This is truly beautiful. :)
Storyteller,Sun Rises and Sun Sets, those are truely something to behold.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. hugs and Blessings.
So beautiful- photos and haiku. I love that you watch the sunrise. I truly miss that about working the night shift. So much promise, peace, and beauty lies in every sunrise :)
Magnificent sunrise.
Maggie>– I’ve always been an early riser/morning person … much to the dismay of my parents who solved the dilemma by giving me a flashlight and permission to ‘read under the covers’ (so as not to awaken my sister with whom I shared a bedroom) until the rest of the family awakened. It worked for me because I loved to read (and still do), though ‘blogging’ takes up a good deal of my reading time.
Joyce, Mike, and Mary Ann
I’m glad you each enjoyed my morning view ;--)
Sandy – I don’t think I could EVER work a ‘night shift’ … but it’s interesting that one can enjoy a sunrise before sleep as well as after. You’re definitely right about the ‘promise, peace, and beauty in every sunrise’ … and taking time to observe this daily phenomenon does help me ‘center’ myself for whatever the day brings.
To all – I appreciate your visit. It’s 6:04am and I’m sitting on my patio at the moment with my computer in my lap … composing this response while waiting for the sun to rise again. It’s a lovely way to begin the day! Hope you each have a pleasant weekend.
Hugs and blessings,
That is a beautiful way to start you day!
Wish I had such a view.
It is lovely! I like your series of haiku too. Wonderful!
Beautiful sky watch. I loved the gratitude haiku, Storyteller. You're great. God bless.
Beautiful sunrise pix! Oh and I meant to say I love your new chair! :)
Catz – It certainly is, and I’m grateful ;--)
Raven – Thanks. Haiku seems like a natural way for me to express myself … especially on Fridays.
SandyCarlson – I’m glad you enjoyed both … thanks. Each sunrise is a bit different, but some are gorgeous and get me out of my chair to capture it with my camera.
Mary, the teach – Thanks … and I love my new chair too ;--)
To all – I appreciate you dropping by today and hope you’re each enjoying your weekend.
Hugs and blessings,
A beautiful sunrise and haiku all in one! Thank you for a great start for my day.
Great haiku and pictures. The gratitude is inspiring, especially since I am thinking about starting a gratitude 365 for the next year. Hmmm...
Storyteller,
Your sunrise sky is beautiful!! I love your photos!
Hugs,
Tina
Kahshe Cottager – You’re quite welcome! I’m delighted you enjoyed the sunrise and my Haiku. This morning’s sunrise was not quite so dramatic, but lovely all the same.
Yertle – I highly recommend keeping a daily gratitude journal. As I said in my comment at your blog earlier … I’ve kept one for a very long time.
Tina – Thank you … I’m glad you dropped by and got to see it.
To all - I hope you’ve each enjoyed your weekend and that the week ahead brings interesting and pleasant experiences to you all. Thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts.
Hugs and blessings,
