(Almost)WW & OSI Week 24: Stairways

AlmostThe prompt for Week 24: Stairways

As a baby dog
Molly easily could climb

up
these backyard stairs ...
yet once at the top
scary it seemed to descend.

Many times did I

climb these stairs myself

to retrieve the tiny pup
as she sat and cried
until tentative
downward steps she carefully

managed on her own.

Now she uses these
stairs to watch the world go by ...
standing 'guard' above.

so sweet...& a great metaphor for how what was once a great fear can become a new window on the world!

Aww! She is so precious :) My childhood dog did the same thing. We did not grow up in a home with stairs, but later moved into a 2 story house. Our dog would yelp until we carried him down :(

Lovely WW pics!

Too cute.

Awww... sweet puppy. This reminded me of Abigails last days. She was close to 22 when she died and I was in an apartment on two floors. After a couple of times of hearing the thump, thump thump of her falling down them, she would come and scold me to carry her down. She still managed to drag herself up most times. What an amazing girl she was. Molly looks like such a joyful spirit. Animals are such a great gift in life.

I can see how Molly could be scairt going down those stairs when she was just a baby!

that's cute.....

When we moved into our current house the cats were scared by the 4 steps in the middle of the house. They had only lived in a house with one step. At first they looked up at us standing at the top, and I think they thought we had suddenly transformed into giants. Of course they quickly adapted.

Can Molly come over and teach Ellie how to get down?

Hi StoryTeller, Molly is sooooo cute. I can remember our Adi's (not Katrin in the blog) first stair step descent also. Her steps were very tentative.
Happy WW and OSI, you have a very nice poem. And yes, lets try to have minds in sync again on one of these. What are the odds? :-)

One of our dogs is from the pound and when we brought her home, she was 1-1/2 years old. She had never been in a house and did not know how to go up and down stairs. She was also very scared of her reflection in a mirror. All overcome now.

Happy WW!

Arf!! Hi Storyteller. Thanks fur coming to visit me at my dog blog. Molly's cute and I can understand why it's hard fur her to go down those stairs. Just think 'bout if you had to go down that many big steps... face first woof yur body all behind you and being that small. It sure can be scary to a pup.

See ya later. Bark!

Hi Storyteller. I agree with Reba that Molly is very cute. If she's half as good a dog as my beloved Reba is, then you are blessed (and I'm sure she is).

See my post here, and/or my whole blog I Was Born2Cree8.

Beautifully done, Storyteller! Molly is simply gorgeous, too!

Whiskey was just like that. She couldn't wait to get to the top and then I had to get my exercise to bring her down.

What a cutie! I agree, the down part can be scary but there's no avoiding it, is there? Great use of the prompt.

To everyone – Thanks so much for your visit to Sacred Ruminations and comments about Molly and my OSI: Stairway post. I enjoyed creating and sharing it here. Molly IS a lovely fur-friend and I never tire of telling ‘stories’ about her. The minute I read the OSI prompt, I decided to make her ‘the star’ for this one. I apologize for responding almost a week late here, but I did enjoy visiting each of your blogs and look forward to returning as time permits.

Monique (of Escape Hatch) – Yup … Molly’s a special little girl and I feature her frequently on both blogs … just because.

Thanks to both of you for visiting and sharing your thoughts. I enjoyed revisiting this post today too.
