Gratitude for the Simple Things in Life

"Don't let yesterday use up too much of today."
Cherokee Indian Proverb
Although I continue to keep a Daily Gratitude List in my sidebar at Small Reflections, I do like to Blog my Blessings on Sundays here, so here goes: I'm grateful ...

1. for excellent competitive Australian Open tennis matches to watch this past week. I'm glad the Williams sisters won the Women's Doubles Championship and the Bryan Brothers took the Men's Doubles Trophy ... that Serena pulled out the win against Justine Henin to win in Australia for the second year running ... and that Roger regained the Australian Open title after losing there the last two years (in addition to the US Open last September) ... re-establishing himself as #1 at the age of 28½ by defeating Andy Murray in straight sets.

2. to spend Friday and Saturday with my sister ... after getting my Medicare, supplemental & drug plan 'ducks in a row' on Thursday. We enjoyed sharing a breakfast at the Harbor House in Sunset Beach Friday morning then drove to Balboa Island to walk around taking photos, after which we headed for Fashion Island ... happily buying nothing other than a latte at Starbucks in the afternoon. We did stop by Ritz Camera there to check on camera classes and signed up for two classes on Saturday.

3. My sister took these photos as we drove along Pacific Coast Highway on our way south to Balboa & Newport Beach. The weather over the weekend was beautiful but more rainstorms are headed our way and it's supposed to be wet all week long.

4. in addition to the photography classes, my sister & I shared a tasty lunch of Mushu Pork at PF Chang's and a 'mini' yogurt at Pinkberry's before heading for home in the late afternoon.

5. I picked up Polarized filters for both my lenses and got a 3rd filter free. Now I need to figure out how they work ;-)

6. that my laptop & Blogger have allowed me to create and publish this post without crashing. I'm hoping to be able to catch up on blog visits this afternoon.

A beautiful drive along the CA coast. The shadow of the photo artist at work - although I an sure that it is as far from 'work' as any activity could be. It's too much fun!

I really enjoy your beach/ocean shots - so different from CO! I've taken some classes at Ritz in Denver. I hope to take one this spring at the Botanic Garden. Enjoy your week - even if it's rainy. Glad you got the insurance squared away!

You got some wonderful pictures as you drove along the coast. I'll be looking forward to the pictures you post as you try out your new filters.

Beautiful pictures of the coastline... Sorry to hear that more rain is coming your way...

You do have alot to be grateful for, don't you??? I do too.. I did get my SNOW--although the ICE came with it. But--it's still pretty and the sun came out today and melted alot of the ice...

Glad your tennis matches turned out so good... I'm also glad you got your medicare stuff taken care of...

Hope the week ahead brings you more things to be grateful for.
Hugs,
Betsy

Sounds like you and your sister had a fun day, Storyteller.
I have been so cold here in Connecticut that these photos of a warm climate look delightful.

The beach and sky photos are beautiful.

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful week ahead!

Just like clock work -- a lovely post.

The coast is very inviting.

Im glad you got your technical issues on the mend.

I hate when things like that happen.

Beautiful mosaic of our beloved coastline! I thought Ritz Camera went out of business...I am surprised, apparently not! And, I didn't know they offered photography classes! I am learning a lot by reading your blog...

Your pictures of the ocean made me so happy this morning. I love California, and one of the things that I find so special is that through out LA, you can see the ocean so easily and take pictures. In New Jersey, the ocean is hidden by beach clubs and other places. Your entire day sounded just perfect to me.

I love your Cherokee saying, and have copied it! Lovely beach pictures, at first I thought the one was a tiny lighthouse, but I see it's probably a lifeguard lookout. Sounds like you had a wonderful day, sorry bad weather is coming again. We just had another snow storm with tons more snow, and are supposed to get another this coming weekend! How is your computer repair coming?

I'm grateful I've seen the Pacific coast (twice) and that I grew up in a beach town (east coast). Love the shadow shot.
