Almost WW #46 - Photo Experimentation

Almost
Experimenting with
filters in PSE6
I came up with these ...
Taos images
'Stylized' with 'Find Edges' ...
Aren't the results 'kewl' ...?
I'd like to thank Tammy of A Little Girl Talk and Mom Knows Everything for helping me get rid of the 'html' borders messing up my headers on both blogs. Lookie ... no 'excess' lines here or at Small Reflections any more.

Those effects are really 'kewl' and make great pictures!

Those pictures are really cool! Thank you, that was very sweet of you mentioning me. It was my pleasure! :o)

I love that filter for certain images. These fit in with it exceptionally well. Have you tried the "Fade whatever filter you just used" option? It allows you to "merge" the image before and after. Sort of. That's what it would look like if you used it with this filter anyway.

Cool effects!

That is really neat. I wish I could figure out Photoshop!

Wow, these are amazing. I love the effect. I bet you had fun with your camera taking these. Thanks for sharing.

I love the new banner! And what a neat effect, with the photos! It looks like you sketched them, rather than used a camera!

I love the second one with the cart of blue flowers. Reminds me of a Monet for some reason.

I like to mess with the filters in Corel and GIMP, too. Yours came our very well.

Debbie – Yup … I’m definitely having ‘fun’ playing with the filters in PSE6 and I look forward to learning how to enhance the appearances more predictably as the class continues.

Jennifer – The last one is of the place where we met for ‘conferences’ … so that area holds special memories for me.

Mike Golch – I’m glad you enjoyed it … and thanks for thinking of me. I appreciate the award and will pass it along to others soon.

Vixen – Thanks … I thought so too!

Tammy – You’re welcome. Acknowledging your help seemed like the right thing to do. I am grateful to have eliminated the ‘lines’ near my headers … and I’m looking for the ‘link’ I mentioned in a little while.

Mojo – I’ve not used that one yet … but have made a note to check it out soon. Thanks for the suggestion. This filter produces some of my favorite results. I used it again for a ‘collage’ I shared at Small Reflections today (Saturday) in my Photo Hunt/Smiley Saturday post too.

Jennifer (at Playgroups …) – I tried to figure Photoshop out on my own for YEARS, but I didn’t have much success until I enrolled in classes this past summer. That’s made a HUGE difference for me!

Michelle – Actually, these are photos I took in 2007 … but taking these classes and experimenting with PSE6 HAS made me begin to experiment with my camera settings recently too. One feeds the other it seems ;--)

EllenB – Thanks!

Betty – I needed lessons to get myself going too. What it really takes is TIME and the willingness to play.

Joyce – Thanks for the feedback about my headers. I’m delighted to have FINALLY figured out how to get the dimensions correct. As for the cart of flowers, that’s one of my favs too.

CrackerJacks – I understand there are free sites online that allow you to manipulate photos too, but I think PSE6 is definitely worth the money. That said … I just heard they’re coming out with PSE7 later this year so you might want to wait for that newer version.

Chuck – Don’t they? I wish I could draw like that!!! You’re in my ‘reader’ … so whenever I open it I always check to see if there’s anything ‘new’ … but I don’t open it daily … only when I’ve got time to visit. I’m glad you’re making progress on your writing.

SandyCarlson – What a lovely thing to say. I’m delighted you enjoyed these images.

Sandy (of Momisodes) – That’s true. I feel like I’ve just started to scratch the surface of the possibilities.

Sue – What a clever idea. I shall bear that in mind … as I think about holiday gifts for friends.

Karen – Hey … it’s great to see you out and about! I’ve missed your visits and your posts. I suspect these bring back mem’ries … right? I wish I could draw like this!

KarmynR – How interesting. Now that you mention it, I see what you mean.

Kahshe Cottager – Thanks … I felt pleased with them and thought them amazingly simple once I found this particular filter ;--)

FourWindShaiga – I don’t own Corel and don’t know what GIMP is … but I guess they must do similar things.

Rebecca – Thanks!

To all – I appreciate your visit and your enthusiastic comments about my experimentations. I’m glad I decided to share what I learn in my PSE6 class because it’s fun to get feedback and gives me a reason to apply my newly acquired skills and knowledge. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week and are enjoying your weekend too.
Hugs and blessings,

Lisa’s Chaos – Me too. I remember asking the ‘caretaker’ how he produced such lovely pansies in late July, early August in the desert … and he laughingly shared that he had just purchased and transplanted them in honor of our arrival. They WERE colorfully gorgeous in real life … (I think the real photo is in my sidebar at Sacred Ruminations)… and turned out well when I experimented ;--)

Crazy Working Mom – Dunno about ‘talent’ … but I am willing to ‘play with possibilities’ when I learn about new ‘tools’ in Photoshop.

Yertle – Thanks … I enjoyed sharing them almost as much as coming up with them in the first place.

To all – I appreciate your visit and comments here … encouraging me to ‘play and share’ again. Perhaps I’ll do so when I return from my PSE6 class today? Hope you’re having a delightful day!
