WW#49 - PSE6 Filter Experiments ... yet again

Almost
Experimenting again with possibilities ... just because.
First is the 'original' photo (shared by our instructor) beautiful 'as is' ... but I'm trying to develop a 'sense' of what each kind of filter does. Then I share here 9 'labeled' variations and welcome whatever reactions & feedback visitors might care to share and/or information visitors (who know more than me about such things) might offer in hopes of learning more about such things.

Jackson Lake at Sunrise
Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
Glowing Edges - 31% opacity
Torn Edges - 29% opacity
Photocopy - 30% opacity
Bas Relief 34%
Pointillize - 35%
Crystalize
Smudge Stick
Film Grain
Neon Glow
So ... what do you think?

I'm really liking the smudge stick effect...

The original is breathtaking. The effects are cool but I still like the original.

I'm with mommeee. THe effects are neat, but they take as much away form the original as they add. The unaltered version is spectacular.

You're learning!!!
Isn't it fun?

I'm so glad my comment tweaking worked for you.

Have a great evening.

Such a beautiful picture. It's so peaceful. I love it! How neat that you can change the appearance on the computer. My little sis has been taking photography for a year now. I think she is learning some of the same techniques. Great work. Thanks for sharing.

They are all pretty awesome, but I really like the bas relief one.

Bas relief sure does bring a nice texture to this! Great stuff, Storyteller!

The original is too beautiful for words. Love the study in special effects. BJ

nice to meet you here in WW-land! really liked these images, especially the bas relief. but, as you say, the original is beautiful enough.

I don't know why exactly, but I'm crazy about Bas Relief! I also enjoy Pointillize, Crystalize, Smudge Stick and Film Grain. :)
What fun you must be having with that class!

Love the original photo - it's like a postcard. The effects are cool, just like you, I am learning how to use them.

Those are very pretty pics. I hop to one day learn and take the time to learn these different photo effects.

my eyes are too tired right now to make distinctions. i am reminded, however, of the birthday gift i received of photoshop elements and how much time i know it will consume when i allow myself to hop in and play!!!

What an interesting progression, I've , never worked with one of these programs, looks like lots of fun to tweak. They are all appealing in their own way, hard not to be with the stunning original!

What fun! I need to try this. I love the original the best, but I think they are all awesome. Great job! I love to see the differences.

Love the crisp original. Makes me want to go there. Maybe Colorado would look similar? Was this on Photo Shop or something?

Thanks to everyone for your comments! - It seems like the ‘original’ photo and ‘Bas Relief’ filter are the favorites overall … though the ‘spooky’ quality of ‘Neon Glow’ just might be appropriate for the Halloween season. I do appreciate all your support and encouragement of my experimentations. I believe I’ve visited most everyone already, but am hoping to visit anyone I’ve missed sometime today … after responding to comments here on my blog … just because. Hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend and are having a Marvelous Monday!
