This is too wonderful not to share -- Enjoy!


I received this in email today ... laughed out loud until my sides hurt and tears flowed ... then decided I needed to pass it along because there's just so much WISDOM here. Thanks to Mary for sharing :)


Don't break the elastic!

In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older. And, there on television, she said it was "exciting." Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day...like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first.

The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!

Maya Angelou said this:
"I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow."


"I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights."

"I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they're gone from your life."

"I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as "making a life."

"I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance."


"I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw some things back."

"I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision."

"I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one."

"I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back."


"I've learned that I still have a lot to learn."


"I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."

It closes with the reminder to pass it along (something usually causes me to delete things immediately because I hate to be told what to do), but in this instance I wanted to share with EVERYONE who passes by ... so here's the rest:

If you do,
something good will happen: You will boost another woman's self-esteem.

If you don't...the elastic will break and your underpants will fall down around your ankles! Believe me, I didn't take any chances on MY elastic breaking.... I sent it to a lot of special women I care for.

That one resonates with me also. I wish I'd thrown lots of "stuph" back in the past ... and try to consider what I hold on to these days more carefully before taking in in. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

The one about making decisions with an open heart is resonating with me. I've been trying to improve my decision-making process (which is long and filled with "what ifs")--perhaps it's even simpler than I thought. And I like the one about touching people, too. Whenever someone reaches out and touches me, I get this little burst of love in my heart and I feel so good about the person who does it. But even knowing that, I'm still reluctant to reach out to others, afraid that I'll offend them or freak them out. I'm going to stop holding back.

(and I'm with you....if I do ever forward one of these things on I usually take out the language that requires a person to sent it on and to how many people....I figure if someone is touched by it, they will forward it to others they think would also enjoy it...otherwise there need be no guilt or worry of not sending it on ;)

Those spoke to me also ... in fact the whole thing "resonates" with ever fiber of my being (which is, of course, why I decided to pass it on here). It's taken me a long time to learn that when I step back, listen within, and act accordingly ... everyone benefits :)

As for hugs ... well we can never have too many of those, right?

Lately, I've been getting this "type" of mail from distant friends. They don't write me a personal note - they just send these types of messages. I was thinking this morning I need to find one I haven't seen and send it back to them. Ask and you'll receive. I really like this one too - it resonates - so I copied it to go back into email again. Thanks.
I'm with Karen the one I like best is the open heart = right decision.
